Manchester United could end up making a move this summer to sign Ajax star and Chelsea target Mohammed Kudus.

That is according to a report from The Times.

They claim that Premier League giants Man United are lining up alternative targets in case they fail in their attempts to bring Atalanta attacker Rasmus Hojlund to Old Trafford.

It is understood that Erik ten Hag’s side could end up turning to Ajax’s Mohammed Kudus as an alternative.

Interestingly, Ten Hag previously signed Kudus when he was Ajax manager and coached the 22-year-old talent.

Kudus, who’s still only a youngster, is now linked with a glamorous Premier League transfer due to his eye-catching performances in Holland.

The attacking midfielder finished last season with 18 goals across all competitions, which is why there’s speculation Chelsea are chasing him. They could soon have real competition from United, though.

We’ve heard a lot of rumours lately that suggest Kudus could end up moving to Stamford Bridge during this summer transfer window.

Journalist Ben Jacobs told CaughtOffside this week that Chelsea have nearly agreed personal terms with Kudus. However, the Blues are still yet to launch an official bid for Ajax’s £40million-rated playmaker.

Described as “exceptional” by John Heitinga (VoetbalPrimeur), Kudus could be great value for money when you consider his versatility to shine as a central midfielder, attacking midfielder or winger.

In our view, Chelsea should be pushing hard to get this deal done well before United enter the race.

The Ghana international looks tailor-made for the Premier League with his pace and physicality. Also, he fills more than one hole with his quality in numerous positions.

There’s no doubt Mauricio Pochettino’s squad right now is looking threadbare in the centre of the park, so we would suggest Kudus as a genuine option as a box-to-box midfielder.
