'Poundland Mason Mount': Some Chelsea fans not impressed by links to 22-year-old talent

Chelsea supporters were not amused by the news that their club is apparently interested in Real Madrid starlet Martin Odegaard.

The Daily Star reported that the Blues were keeping track of Odegaard’s movements, who is currently on loan from Madrid at Arsenal.

Here’s how Chelsea fans reacted to this latest transfer update.

Odegaard’s performances since joining the Gunners in January have been excellent, hence the desire to keep him in North London indefinitely.

This permanent move may not be so easy for Mikel Arteta and Edu to pull off.

Along with Chelsea, Paris Saint Germain are also apparently attracted to the idea of signing the 22-year-old midfielder.

Madrid might also want a say in the matter by reclaiming their player’s services next season.

All three of these teams outweigh Arsenal financially, which will play a massive part in deciding Odegaard’s next destination.

He has certainly settled into life well at the Emirates and it would be a big bonus for Arteta if he stayed around for another term.

However, if the Gunners fail to qualify for European competition this campaign, Odegaard might be lured elsewhere.

£50m (Daily Star) is the suggested price that Madrid have placed on the Norway international’s shoulders.

Paying a figure like that is not unbeknown by Chelsea.

Although, they might want to save their pennies to try and sign Odegaard’s national teammate, Erling Haaland.
