Chelsea are allegedly ready to sell tmidfielder N’Golo Kante with Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain being the two interested parties.
Among the Maurizio Sarri’s Chelsea squad last season, Kante and Eden Hazard were arguably the closest to the world-class status.
Real Madrid have taken away the Belgian winger from the Blues last summer, and now they are plotting to bring the other Chelsea’s elite player to Santiago Bernabeu, according to a report from the 90min.
The report claims Chelsea will be willing to part with Kante for a “right price”, and the likes of Real Madrid and PSG certainly have the resources for that.
One of the reasons why Chelsea might want to let Kante leave is his age. The French midfield dynamo is now 29 and although Kante still has three years in his contract at Stamford Bridge, Chelsea are unlikely to offer him a new contract as he will be 32 by the time his contract runs out.
Another reason mentioned in the report is Kante’s recent injuries. This is the first time in his career that he struggles with injuries which resulted in his repeated absences throughout the season.
Real Madrid boss Zinedine Zidane is keen on bringing Kante, along with two other French internationals Paul Pogba and Kylian Mbappe to his squad.
However, PSG are also preparing a bid Chelsea make Kante available in the summer transfer window.
Frank Lampard will have plenty of options in case of Kante’s departure, with Jorginho and Mateo Kovacic having performed relatively well in the former Leicester City midfielder’s absence.
Ruben Loftus-Cheek will soon be available after a year-long injury and Billy Gilmour has recently emerged as a serious prospect for the holding midfield role.
