Atletico Madrid are interested in signing Chelsea’s Marc Cucurella, according to reports.
The Evening Standard claims that Spanish giants Atletico are interested in Marc Cucurella.
It is understood that Atletico are keen on 33-year-old Blues striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, too.
Cucurella, who’s just 24, has had a very difficult debut season in Chelsea colours after his move to Stamford Bridge in the summer transfer window of 2022.
The left-back has come in for his fair share of criticism throughout the campaign, which is why we’re surprised to hear speculation that Atletico like the idea of taking him at the Wanda Metropolitano stadium.

It’s fair to say that Chelsea are yet to see a fair investment on the £60million (Sky Sports) they paid Brighton last summer for Cucurella.
The Spanish full-back has been in and out of the side under Chelsea’s various different managers this season.
We certainly feel that his left-back rival and teammate Ben Chilwell is someway ahead of him right now.
Cucurella is still under contract in West London until 2028 and you never want to write players off after one year,. However, it’s going to take quite a U-turn for him to win the supporters over moving forward.

In our view, we wouldn’t be against selling Cucurella if a suitable offer was made.
Our guess is he won’t be on the move in the next transfer window, though.
We’ve seen signs during the season of what made him such a big hit at Brighton, which is aggressive defending and forward passing. Unfortunately, his Chelsea form so far has seen him make erratic decisions both on and off the ball.
He’s currently missing through an injury, but it’ll be interesting to see what happens with him under the next permanent manager at Stamford Bridge.
