Chelsea defender Gary Cahill is reportedly wanted by Burnley.
According to the Daily Mail, the 33-year-old will leave Stamford Bridge in the summer when his contract expires.
It is understood that Burnley are among the clubs prepared to snap up the defender as a free agent.
The report details that Clarets boss Sean Dyche is prepared to take a punt on experienced players, but Cahill will need to take a pay cut to make the switch to Turf Moor.
Cahill’s final season has come to an end in an unsavoury way under Maurizio Sarri, as he’s been frozen out of the first team and been written off.
The English centre-back was given a send off in the final league home game of the season against Watford and he deserved it after winning the lot in terms of silverware.
Cahill has won two Premier League titles and been named in the PFA Team of the Year on three separate occasions.
He’s also picked up Champions League, Europa League, FA Cup and League Cup medals to cement himself as a great at the club.
He would be an immense capture for Burnley given he can still offer something at top-flight level and he would be sure to get a warm reception if he returned to Stamford Bridge in opposition colours.
