Chelsea new signing Malang Sarr could reportedly be used as part of the deal to bring Bayer Leverkusen ace Kai Havertz to Stamford Bridge, claim the Daily Mail.

The Blues announced the 21-year-old has signed a five-year deal with the club and will be sent on loan for the 2020/21 season.

Now that Chelsea have also brought in Thiago Silva following his release from Paris Saint-Germain, it makes sense to send Sarr on a loan spell to play regularly as Frank Lampard will have plenty of centre-back options.

“He is a tremendous prospect and we will be monitoring him closely during his loan period, hoping he will soon be back at Chelsea,” Chelsea director Marina Granovskaia told the club’s official website about their plan for Sarr.

They have yet to reveal where the young centre-back will play next season, but according to a report from the Daily Mail, he could play in Germany.

The report claimed that Leverkusen are interested in Sarr and could request his services as part of their negotiations with Chelsea over Havertz.

Although they missed out on Champions League spot after finishing fifth in Bundesliga this season, Leverkusen still qualify for the Europa League which would make them an attractive temporary destination for Sarr.

Aside from Leverkusen, another Bundesliga side Schalke and an “unnamed” Italian club have also shown interests in France U-21 international, according to Goal.
