Chelsea are reportedly interested in Bristol City’s dazzler Antoine Semenyo.
According to the Daily Mirror, Chelsea and Premier League club Manchester United are set to rival each other for his signature.
It is understood that Manchester United have been scouting the 19-year-old, while the Blues have made an approach to Bristol City.
Semenyo has impressed this season out on loan at League Two outfit Newport County and the report details parent club Bristol City would demand £2million in compensation if he leaves.
The centre-forward has scored six goals in 31 games this season for Newport and is an upcoming talent with lightning pace.
He is an English attacker that can also be deployed in wide areas and has the dribbling qualities to trouble full-backs.
Chelsea appear to be keen on snapping up a potential star for the future and the seven-figure fee quoted could be a bargain later down the line.
But it’s extremely unlikely that Semenyo would feature in the club’s first team plans at Stamford Bridge in the near future and a string of loan exits would be needed to get him closer to the level required.
Maurizio Sarri has shown a willingness to use the likes of Ruben Loftus-Cheek and Callum Hudson-Odoi this season, but Semenyo is miles away from that and should be allowed to continue improving his game in the lower divisions.
