Chelsea are reportedly among three clubs interested in Federico Chiesa after Fiorentina CEO previously confirmed interest in the forward.
The 22-year-old has been one of La Viola’s best performers this season and is currently the club’s joint-top scorer (six goals) alongside Dusan Vlahovic.
Chiesa is known as a winger, but he has mostly played as a centre-forward in a front two in Giuseppe Iachini’s 3-5-2 formation this season.
Fiorentina CEO Joe Barone told Gazzetta dello Sport on Tuesday: “Federico is under contract, he is our player, at the end of the season we will see the situation.
“There are teams that are knocking, also from abroad, but he is very focused to do well here with us.”
According to a report from Le10 Sport, the team from abroad is referring to Chelsea.
The report also mentions two Serie A sides, Juventus and Inter Milan, as the other interested parties.
Chiesa’s versatility would make him a good addition for Frank Lampard, who could lose Willian and Pedro.
Considering his experience in playing as a centre-forward this season, Chelsea could also use him a striker if they plan to sell either Olivier Giroud or Michy Batshuayi.
At the moment, Chiesa still has two years left on his contract with Fiorentina.
