Chelsea are reportedly interested in centre-forward Maxi Gomez from La Liga club Celta Vigo.
According to the Sun, the Blues are keen on a £35million raid for the Uruguay internatonal and will face competition from Liverpool for his signature.
It is understood that ex-Liverpool ace Luis Suarez has informed his former club to chase the striker, while Chelsea want a replacement in case Gonzalo Higuain returns to Juventus when his loan at Stamford Bridge expires.
Gomez is one of the outstanding individuals at Celta Vigo and certainly looks capable of making a step up.
The attacker has nine goals and five assists in 24 games across all competitions this season and that follows on from 18 goals in all competitions last campaign.
He is a physical target man that is excellent in the air and scored a number of headed goals for Celta Vigo.
Gomez is also a fox in the box that is a tidy finisher and Chelsea could do with an extra striker option to support Higuain and Olivier Giroud.
He may not be ready to become an automatic starter in Maurizio Sarri’s XI, but is perhaps worth investing and trying to pip Liverpool too his signature ahead of next season.
