Chelsea are reportedly now one of several teams that are interested in Manchester United playmaker Angel Gomes.

According to the Sun, the Blues have shown an interest in the in demand attacking midfielder.

It is understood that Leicester City are also keen, while teams from Spain and Italy have already held initial talks with his representatives.

The report explains that the 19-year-old’s current deal at Old Trafford expires in the summer, but United are desperate to keep him.

United are prepared to treble his current £10,000-a-week wages to give him an improved deal and want to sort it out within the next few weeks.

Gomes has come all the way through the United academy and has now managed 10 senior appearances for them, with six coming so far this season.

He’s a skilful teenager that usually plays in the number 10 role, where he has the pace and composure to be a serious goal threat on his day.

The Englishman is yet to really make a mark at senior level, but he’s been picked out as a serious talent at United for a number of years.

Chelsea would be prizing away someone with major potential if they did wrap up a deal for Gomes.

Frank Lampard has helped blood a number of the Chelsea’s academy stars this campaign and Stamford Bridge is allow their best young players to flourish.
