Report: Chelsea interested in teenage talent who is already regular starter at Ligue 1 club
Chelsea are among a number of European top clubs interested in Angers young striker Mohamed-Ali Cho, according to a report from French outlet L’Equipe.
It is not exactly uncommon among clubs in Ligue 1, but it is still impressive that Cho is already a regular starter for Angers at 17 years old.
Unsurprisingly, the teenager has reportedly attracted a lot of interest, including from Chelsea, Atletico Madrid, and AC Milan.
As it stands, Cho is still under contract with Angers until summer 2023, but the L’Equipe report suggests the versatile forward may not stay in France for long.
The report also mentioned that Angers’ financial situation means Cho’s departure at the end of the season could be on the cards.
Chelsea also have plenty of outstanding young strikers at their disposal
It seems unlikely that Cho would go straight into the first team at Chelsea if he were to sign next summer.
The Blues usually send their young talents to loan clubs, but they already have the likes of Armando Broja, Bryan Fiabema, and Jude Soonsup-Bell — 20, 18, and 17 years old, respectively — who are waiting for their first-team opportunities.
Broja, in particular, has recently made a very strong case for his inclusion in the Chelsea first team with several goalscoring performances at Southampton.
