Report: Chelsea line up bid for 'dominant' £125k-a-week player that Champions League club may sell

Chelsea transfer links are now pointing in the direction of Inter Milan’s Ivan Perisic as a possible new target this month.

The Mirror reports Chelsea continue to be on the search during the January transfer window for a new left wing-back, despite the fact Kenedy’s been recalled from his loan to provide competition for Blues defender Marcos Alonso at Stamford Bridge

It is understood that Thomas Tuchel’s side are lining up a bid for Perisic to fill a wing-back spot in the squad.

The report states Italian giants Inter will listen to offers for the 32-year-old this month and could end up selling for a figure due to the fact his contract at the San Siro expires in the summer.

In addition, Arsenal and Tottenham are both keen on the £125,000-a-week wide man. However, the player himself would much prefer a switch to Chelsea than either of their London rivals.

RONALDO NEEDS TO STOP WHINING.

Apparently, he would be open to extending his stay with Inter if they match his ambitions.

Chelsea target Mr Versatile

Perisic, who’s still a quality winger for his country Croatia, can be a real flair attacker with pace, directness and energy. He’s got the game to play as a central forward, too.

Also, his game has developed over the years, and he’s adapted into a wing-back position with Inter.

With Chelsea trying to find cover their injured left wing-back Ben Chilwell, they could land a solution this month by raiding Serie A.

Perisic remains an important player for Inter, though, and has made 25 appearances across all competitions so far this season. Incidentally, he played in all six of Inter’s Champions League group stage matches to help set up an intriguing last-16 tie against Liverpool.

Described as “dominant” by Jose Mourinho in 2018, he’s yet to test himself during his successful career in English football. It definitely looks like he’s got the athleticism and attitude for it, though.

If Chelsea submit a bid, they should want a bargain price for someone that’s a free agent in the summer.
