Chelsea are reportedly waiting for Bayer Leverkusen’s answer as a £70million plus add-ons bid has been proposed for Kai Havertz.
Despite the transfer rumours, the 21-year-old is still among Leverkusen’s Europa League squad to face Rangers on Thursday, August 6.
The Bundesliga side grabbed a 3-1 victory in the first leg at Glasgow and are the favourites to qualify to the quarterfinals.
While Havertz is busy with the preparations, Chelsea and Leverkusen are reportedly working behind the scene to reach an agreement for the player’s potential move to West London.
According to a report from Sky Sports, Leverkusen are still holding out for their initial demand of £90m for the Germany international.
The report also said Chelsea have offered a structured deal starting at £70m and rising to that higher figure with add-ons.
It seems like a fair offer, but the final decision will still be on Leverkusen.
Leverkusen manager Peter Bosz has previously said that he has talked with Havertz about the transfer rumours and they are waiting for the “crucial call”.
He told Deutschen Presse-Agentur (via Goal): “I talk to Kai a lot and try to feel what all this does to him. For example, these daily rumours about transfers.
“Yes, I know what he wants to do, but of course I’m not going to give it away, it’s up to him.
“I couldn’t say [when the decision will be made]. Perhaps the crucial call will come today, maybe next week, maybe not at all.”
