PSG CEO Nasser Al-Khelaifi told the club’s official website: “Thiago, thank you for eight years of unforgettable memories, leadership and commitment.
“You are one of the greats and your legendary status at PSG will live forever.
“My very best wishes to you and your family for your new adventures, you will always be part of our family and our history, Merci Captain.”
Silva himself has bid his farewell to the PSG fans via a post on his Instagram account.
“Today a cycle ends, after eight years with the PSG team I would like to thank my teammates, the whole technical team and management, the fans, my family, God and friends, for all these happy moments we experienced in the city of light,” he wrote.
According to a report from Sky Sports, the Brazil international has passed his medical with Chelsea in Milan, Italy, on Thursday and is expected to fly to London on Friday.
However, following the UK government guidelines, Silva will reportedly have to undergo a 14-day period of self-isolation before joining the rest of Frank Lampard’s squad which could prevent him from taking part in the Blues’ pre-season.
