Chelsea are keen to strengthen their squad after a disappointing 2025/26 season where they finished outside the top five.

Unlike the campaign before, the Blues also failed to win any silverware, though they did come close after reaching the FA Cup final.

Reinforcements now appear to be on their way in a boost to Xabi Alonso, who officially begins work as Chelsea manager next month.

Chelsea working on signing up to four transfer targets

It is likely to be a quieter transfer window than usual, but Chelsea are still expected to be busy this summer.

According to The Athletic, they are already working on signing three or four targets, though the World Cup could slow things down.

A new centre-back and versatile attacker are thought to be the club’s priorities ahead of the new season.

There are also going to be exits, with the futures of Enzo Fernandez and Marc Cucurella far from certain. Fernandez has been heavily linked with a move to Real Madrid, while Cucurella is said to be a target for Los Blancos’ fierce rivals Barcelona.

Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano claims Cucurella is more likely to return to Spain than join another English club amid links with Manchester United.

The centre-back and attacker Chelsea could sign

Chelsea’s dream attacking target seems to be Morgan Rogers, who certainly ticks the versatility box.

The 23-year-old is an attacking midfielder, but he can also play out wide. Chelsea believe Rogers is ideal for their project, but there is going to be a lot of competition for his signature once the transfer window opens.

In terms of bringing in a new centre-back, Chelsea have not really been strongly linked with anybody yet.

However, Ibrahima Konate’s pending move to Real Madrid could pave the way for Dean Huijsen to join Chelsea or another club this summer. The Spain international is a central defender the Blues have tried to sign in the past.
