Chelsea midfielder Jorginho spoke about how he has been helping Thiago Silva communicate with the rest of his Blues teammates.
The fact that the 36-year-old started in all three clean-sheet performances the Blues have had this season shows how important the former Paris Saint-Germain captain has been for Frank Lampard.
Not only because he is a top defender, but also how he helps organise the back line.
He might have found it a little bit difficult to deliver his messages to some of his teammates since he doesn’t really speak English, but Brazil-born Jorginho has been giving Silva English lessons.
“Man on, drop, up, turn, switch play – the kind of things you need to shout on the pitch,” Jorginho told Chelsea’s 5th stand app about some of the words he has taught Silva.
“When he has some questions or doubts he asks me, and I try to help him.
“With other players, he finds a way, with his hands, or he speaks to me and I give the information to the other guys.
“Everyone tries to help each other on and off the pitch.”
Despite his limited proficiency in English, Silva is still one of the most vocal players at Chelsea, Jorginho revealed.
“He is talking a lot,” he added.
“Defensively he has big experience and he knows about football tactically.
“He has played at a high level for a long time. It counts for something. It’s easy to see he is a great player.
“He is helping everyone with what he feels and what he feels is the right thing to say. He is doing very well and we are happy to have him here.”
