Chelsea will want to continue where they left off in 2019 when they face Brighton on New Years Day. The Blues came from behind to beat Arsenal 2-1 on Sunday and need another three points to consolidate their spot in the top four.

Lampard once again has some key decisions to make ahead of the game and should name this lineup to give his side the best chance of beating Brighton.

As fixtures come thick and fast, rotation has to be considered to keep players fresh.

Tariq Lamptey was superb against Arsenal on Sunday when he came on, and Lampard should trust him to make his first Premier League start against Brighton, giving Azpilicueta a much-needed rest.

Zouma and Rudiger should be the two centre-backs if Lampard opts with a four at the back-formation. Emerson is likely to start on the left, with Alonso still ruled out.

If Chelsea are playing with a midfield three, it picks itself.

Jorginho changed the game completely when he came on against Arsenal in the first half and proved how important he is to this Chelsea team. He should be joined by N’Golo Kante and Mateo Kovacic to make up a strong midfield trio.

Mason Mount has begun to show his early season form once again and deserves to start on the right side of the attack against Brighton.

Hudson-Odoi impressed when he came on against Arsenal and deserves another start for Chelsea. It is important that the young Englishman puts in a good performance to stake a claim for a regular starting spot. He could come in for Willian who has played a lot of minutes in a congested period.

Sunday’s match-winner will no doubt start up top for the Blues. He has now scored 12 Premier League goals this season and will be hungry for another one against the Seagulls.
