Mason Mount and Conor Gallagher credited Chelsea teammate Raheem Sterling for also making England’s World Cup squad.

Mount and Gallagher recorded a short message after they received the news of being selected by Gareth Southgate.

The two Cobham academy graduates, along with Sterling, will be boarding the plane to Qatar in a matter of days.

“Absolute dream come true to be selected for England to go away to Qatar. We are absolutely buzzing,” said Mount.

“Yeah shout out to Raheem. He’s not here at the moment but he’s obviously coming along. Come on England,” continued Gallagher.

Chelsea trio called up for England

Each of Graham Potter’s players have questions and caveats surrounding them ahead of the tournament.

Will Sterling be able to shrug off his disappointing club form to once again prevail for England?

Has Gallagher played enough football this season to make him a dependable replacement?

Can Mount fend off James Maddison for the creative midfield role in the Three Lions XI?

All are justifiable queries that the Stamford Bridge three must attempt to answer for themselves.

Sterling has shown before in the past at international competitions that he can be the difference for his country.

He excelled at the European Championships last summer, and was a crucial cog at the previous World Cup.

Mount was also a key member to the England side that reached the finals at Wembley 16-months ago.

The 23-year-old was a shoe-in starter for the Euros, but now has Maddison breathing down his neck for a prominent role.

Gallagher meanwhile will be well aware of his duty to support to those in front of him in the que.

He is still relatively new to the international scene, having only made his senior debut last November.

It is perhaps this fresh and exciting characteristic that England need to go all the way at the World Cup.
