Chelsea prospect Xavier Mbuyamba uploaded a post about John Terry after training on Thursday.

Mbuyamba, 20, is an exciting young defender who’s an important player in the Blues Under-23s side this season.

The Dutch centre-half is yet to make his first-team debut at Chelsea, but he’s a highly-rated talent that signed from Barcelona back in 2020.

Mbuyamba, who was reportedly denied the chance to leave on loan last month, now has a perfect role model to learn from.

Blues icon John Terry recently returned to Stamford Bridge to take the position of a coaching consultancy role at the club’s star-studded academy.

Chelsea’s success rate of bringing through amazing youngsters in the last few years has been faultless, so working around Cobham must be great right now. For example, current first teamers Mason Mount, Reece James and Trevoh Chalobah are all academy graduates. This season the likes of Lewis Hall and Harvey Vale are knocking on the door, too.

Centre-back Mbuyamba claimed on Twitter yesterday that he can’t wait to learn from legendary defender Terry.

Terry another great addition at Chelsea

Terry’s walked the shoes of academy player to senior team at Chelsea during his playing career, as well as going on to become one of the finest centre-backs ever produced by England.

The Blues youngsters, especially the defenders, must be buzzing to have him around.

It’s naturally going to raise levels when he’s around the training pitches, and it’s exciting to see the next defensive star from the academy.

Blues centre-half Levi Colwill, who’s thriving away on loan at Huddersfield Town this season, may fall into that category. Chelsea’s academy are reportedly “shocked” at how well the 18-year-old has bene performing in the Championship.
