Belgian club Royale Union Saint-Gilloise has confirmed the signing of Chelsea development squad (U-23) forward Marcel Lewis.
The 19-year-old versatile attacker has signed a three-year contract with the Belgian second division side. He will join them at the end of his Chelsea contract this summer.
Lewis, who can play wide or as a No.10, joined the Chelsea academy from Cambridge United as an Under-14.
This season, he has stepped up to play as a regular for the development team and had four goals and six assists from 16 appearances in the Premier League 2.
Some Chelsea fans might remember him from his brilliant goalscoring performance in the 6-1 win over Manchester United U-23 side back in December.
He has yet to make his senior debut at Chelsea. But he already had the opportunity to train with the first team under Frank Lampard.
“The Union is delighted to welcome a second summer transfer in Marcel Lewis!” the Belgian club’s official statement said.
“Today he signed a three-year contract with an option for an additional year at the Union! We welcome him to Brussels!”
