Chelsea supporters were slightly week at the knees to see Jude Soonsup-Bell back in action for the academy side on Saturday.

Soonsup-Bell returned from a month’s injury absence to score for the Blues U18 during their 7-0 thrashing of Aston Villa U18s.

That made it 17 goals in 20 appearances this season for the 17-year-old starlet and Chelsea fans couldn’t contain their excitement to see his latest exploits.

It’s been quite a campaign for Soonsup-Bell in more ways than one.

Aside from his fantastic form for the development teams, he was fortunate enough to train with the senior Chelsea squad whilst Frank Lampard was in charge.

Lampard was no stranger to promoting exceptional youth players through the system and Soonsup-Bell clearly caught his eye.

He signed his first professional contract on his 17th birthday, keeping him at Chelsea until 2023.

The talented teenager is also heavily in the hunt for the U18 Premier League Golden Boot award, with 12 currently to his name.

Thomas Tuchel is yet to request his services, but has already called up a number of academy prospects to rub shoulders with his first team.

As futures go, Soonsup-Bells looks very bright and it may not be too long before he’s playing under the Stamford Bridge lights.
