Chelsea’s Under-23s team slipped to a narrow defeat on Friday evening – but some of the club’s fans on Twitter were wowed by the individual performance of their rising star Lewis Bate.
The Blues were beaten 3-2 against Liverpool’s Under-23s in an entertaining Premier League 2 fixture.
Thierno Ballo and Tino Livramento were both on the scoresheet for Andy Myers’ side, but they were eventually beaten by opponents Liverpool.
Despite the narrow loss, Chelsea have plethora of talent in their youth ranks at Cobham and a look at the first-team squad will show the kind of players the club can help develop.
A selection of Blues supporters on social media picked out midfielder Bate as someone that really caught the eye.
The 18-year-old left-footer has been a regular in the Under-23s XI this campaign and continued in the centre of the park against Liverpool.
He showed why he’s renowned for his sublime range of passing, as well as being someone that is technically gifted with close control and a huge influence as the central midfielder.
The London-born teenager is yet to make his senior debut for the club, but he was included on the bench earlier this month during the FA Cup 1-0 win against Barnsley.
