Chelsea fans hail Xavier Mbuyamba for Under-23s display against Manchester United

Chelsea’s Under-23s side suffered defeat against Manchester United on Friday night – but some of the club’s fans on Twitter were majorly impressed with the display of their youngster Xavier Mbuyamba.

The Blues ended up losing 4-2 against Man United in the Premier League 2 fixture.

Despite gaining a one-goal advantage early on, Chelsea ended up going down to 10 men when goalkeeper Lucas Bergstrom was shown a red card for handling the ball outside the area.

Man United went on to score four goals to earn the three points in the league fixture, but there was a consolation late on for Andy Myers’ Chelsea youth team.

It was Chelsea’s first loss in the Premier League 2 since February, but there is still so much talent coming through at Cobham.

A selection of Chelsea supporters on social media were left majorly impressed with the Friday performance of Mbuyamba.

The 19-year-old defender hasn’t played a lot of football this season due to an injury, but has returned to action in the past coupe of weeks.

He’s a ball-playing centre-back that operated as part of a back three against Man United, and he assisted the opening Blues goal with a super lofted pass over the top.

The Dutchman only joined the academy last summer after leaving Barcelona.
