‘Unreal talent’: Some Chelsea fans blown away by Blues midfielder after Under-23 game

Chelsea’s Under-23s were in action yesterday against Manchester United – and some Blues fans on Twitter were left amazed by the performance of their youngster Ben Elliott.

The Blues recorded a 1-1 draw at Stamford Bridge against Man United’s Under-23s in the Premier League 2 fixture.

Harvey Vale put Chelsea ahead in the 74th minute with his penalty, but the visitors stole a point late on courtesy of Alvaro Fernandez’s goal.

The result means that Blues manager Andy Myers has watched his side record back-to-back draws to begin the new 2021/22 league season. They finished runners-up last year, so would surely love to go one better and dethrone Manchester City.

It’s a new-look Under-23s team this campaign because of some exits in the summer, so they are understandably looking to gel and get up to full speed.

Ben Elliott has some Chelsea fans excited

A selection of Chelsea supporters on social media believe that London-born teenager Elliott was a real bright spark for them in the centre of the park. One Blues supporter even compared him to England internatonal and Borussia Dortmund midfielder Jude Bellingham.

Elliott, who played 90 minutes, was a real presence in the midfield last night.

The 18-year-old is a powerful central midfielder that can offer a lot defensively out of possession, but he’s also strong on the ball with a range of passing.

He’s recently stepped up from the Chelsea Under-18s to the Under-23s, so this is a big season for him to keep developing in the academy.

There should be a real incentive for all the young lads to try impress first-team manager Thomas Tuchel, who is willing to promote rising stars if he believes they are ready.

Here are some Chelsea fans excited by Elliott’s Friday display against Man United:
