Chelsea supporters on social media waxed lyrical about Bryan Fiabema’s recent performance in the U-19 Champions League.

Fiabema scored twice during the junior Blues 5-0 win over Malmo on Tuesday afternoon.

Fantastic Fiabema

The 18-year-old has been in fine form this season for both club and country.

Before his European brace, the forward had already scored six times for Chelsea in 10 appearances.

He also netted four goals during Denmark’s Under-19 European Championship qualifying campaign last month, including a hattrick against Kosovo.

His latest double reminded fans – if they needed any more prompting – of the quality that lies within the academy.

The minds of Chelsea fans on social media were certainly jogged by Fiabema’s latest showing.

Here’s how they reacted:

Following in the footsteps

Like many currently situated in Chelsea’s development set-up, Fiabema must have dreams of breaking into the first team.

He will have witnessed the likes of Mason Mount, Reece James, Fikayo Tomori, Tammy Abraham and Trevoh Chalobah all graduate from the Cobham university to the next stage of their careers.

Making it into the senior squad is not an impossibility, however daunting the task may first appear.

The Blues could do with a new wave of strikers coming through, especially following the departures of Abraham and Olivier Giroud over the summer.

Step forward Fiabema, who could well be a star in the making.

However, he may also look to replicate the promising pathways Armando Broja and Tino Livramento are carving for themselves away from Stamford Bridge.

Both joined Southampton in the summer, Livramento on a permanent deal, whilst Broja signed on loan.

Livramento has been a terrific addition to Ralph Hasenhuttl’s squad, a sentiment that is also beginning to apply to Broja.

The decision of fight or flight awaits Fiabema in the not-too-distant future.
