After a summer of no spending and some poor performances of late, fans are keen for some new additions at Stamford Bridge. The January ban has been lifted and the Blues can sign players once again. However, Chelsea must be careful with their January spending.

Some questioned whether the youngsters would be able to hack it at the top level. A number of them played their football in the Championship last year, and it can be a big step up. However, the infamous ‘Chelsea youth’ proved doubters wrong.

Tammy Abraham, Reece James, and Mason Mount to name just three. These players have been better than many could have even dreamt this season and will only improve as time moves on. They are the reason why Chelsea must be careful with the January spending.

Lampard has taken Chelsea into a new era. A side full of young players who have grown up around the club is refreshing to fans and has taken the Blues into an impressive fourth place after 16 games. Signing several players from across the continent for astronomical fees will only disrupt what will be a tight-knit group at Stamford Bridge.

Having faltered in recent weeks, it is clear to see that this Chelsea side could do with a couple of new faces. However, it is important to not just panic-buy a load of new players. Players come at a premium in January as it is, and the current Chelsea side deserves the patience and trust of the Chelsea hierarchy.
