Ben Chilwell would be a brilliant signing for Chelsea

Chelsea’s left-back position is one area that continues to cause huge debate with supporters and something that manager Maurizio Sarri needs to try fix in the long-term.

Marcos Alonso is the preferred full-back option and is a great attacking threat, but his defending can leave a lot to be desired at times.

The 28-year-old often divides opinion at Stamford Bridge due to his inconsistent displays and whether he can be the left-back for the foreseeable future under Sarri remains to be seen.

Emerson Palmieri, 24, is Alonso’s understudy in the Blues squad and many feel he deserves a chance to cement a regular spot in the XI.

But the best solution for Chelsea could be to bring in a left-back of Sarri’s choosing in either January or the summer and one outstanding candidate should spring to mind.

Leicester City’s Ben Chilwell would be a dream signing under Sarri and one that could cement the Blues left-back spot for the next decade.

The 22-year-old is a left-sided flyer that has become a crucial player for Leicester in the last year and also broken into the senior England national team, where he’s featured five times.

Chilwell is the perfect description of a modern-day full-back with his defensive prowess and also his ability going forward.

The full-back appears to be getting better every week at the King Power Stadium and Chelsea have enjoyed transfer dealings with Leicester in the past, with N’Golo Kante proof of that.

According to the Mirror, Manchester City have plotted a move for the £50million-rated defender.

Chelsea certainly have to go all out to sign Chilwell if a move is on the cards, but he’s likely to cost a fortune considering he signed a new Leicester deal that keeps him at his boyhood club until 2024.
