Chelsea centre-forward Michy Batshuayi completed his move to Crystal Palace on Deadline Day of the January transfer window and will spend the rest of the season on loan at Selhurst Park (confirmed).

The 25-year-old didn’t feature in the plans of Maurizio Sarri and has been allowed another temporary stint away from Stamford Bridge.

Gonzalo Higuain and Olivier Giroud are the options in attack for the Blues, who are in a real fight for a top four finish this season in the Premier League.

Chelsea are down to fifth in the table after suffering a 4-0 loss to Bournemouth in their last game and are behind fourth-placed Arsenal on goal difference, while third-placed Tottenham are seven points in front.

Meanwhile, Manchester United are only two points behind in sixth and the race for Champions League qualification could go down to the wire.

Batshuayi could end up having a role to play in the top four race, as he’s got the quality to score goals against Palace and could end up taking points off Chelsea’s direct rivals.

Palace still have to host Manchester United this season, while they travel on the road to Arsenal and Tottenham in the league.

Batshuayi’s record for Chelsea is 19 goals in just 53 games and is a powerful attacker that should make an impact for Palace, while also helping out his parent club if he can fire against some of the top-six teams.
