Chelsea earned a decent 1-1 away draw against Eintracht Frankfurt on Thursday night – and some of the club’s supporters on Twitter were critical of defender Andreas Christensen for his performance.

The Blues have a minor advantage after they scored an away goal in the first leg of a Europa League semi-final tie with German side Frankfurt.

Pedro’s left-footed goal cancelled out a Luka Jovic header to leave the contest nicely poised ahead of next week’s second leg at Stamford Bridge.

After some strong early pressure from Frankfurt, Chelsea did manage to come back much stronger and certainly were on top in the second-half against the Bundesliga club.

A selection of Blues fans were not pleased with Christensen following his display on Thursday night.

The 23-year-old now has an important role to play for the rest of the season following an injury to Antonio Rudiger and appears to be in the main starting XI.

He was booked for a reckless challenge against Frankfurt that was mistimed and the defence was caught out of position for the goal they conceded.

Christensen has played every minute of the Europa League campaign for Chelsea, with half of his 26 appearances coming in the competition.

The Denmark international hasn’t quite made the perfect impression under Maurizio Sarri and may have taken a step backwards this season, but has the chance to try get the team into the top four and to potentially lift a European trophy.
