Chelsea recorded a narrow away victory over Slavia Prague on Thursday night – and some Chelsea fans were not pleased with the performance of defender Cesar Azpilicueta.
The Blues managed a 1-0 win in the Czech Republic capital despite not getting anywhere near up to top gear.
Maurizio Sarri’s team included seven changes from the win over West Ham and they certainly didn’t dominate against Slavia Prague, who had their opportunities in front of goal.
But in the 86th minute defender Marcos Alonso scored a header for the Premier League outfit from a Marcos Alonso cross.
Sarri had to send on the trio of Eden Hazard, N’Golo Kante and Ruben Loftus-Cheek in the second-half to try get the Blues into the contest.
Chelsea can now move on from a far than vintage performance on the European stage to focus on the trip to Anfield to face Liverpool at the weekend.
A selection of Chelsea fans discussed captain Azpilicueta on social media after his performance and believe he really struggled.
The 29-year-old was one of the players that wasn’t allowed a rest, as he took part in his 47th game of the season.
He is the first-choice right-back at Stamford Bridge and hasn’t quite been able to keep up with the high standards he’s set over the years.
