Chelsea fans praise Kepa Arrizabalaga for Spain performance

Kepa Arrizabalaga helped Spain record a 2-1 win away to Romania on Thursday night – and some Chelsea fans on Twitter hailed him for his performance.

The Blues shot-stopper got the nod ahead of Manchester United’s David De Gea in the Spain goal and his side managed a victory in a European Championship qualifying match.

Sergio Ramos and Paco Alcacer were on target for the visitors, while Florin Andone did net for hosts Romania.

Spain nearly dropped the three points in stoppage time, but goalkeeper Kepa made an excellent save from a George Puscas header with his legs to be a late hero.

Kepa has done extremely well to force himself into the Spain XI and certainly did himself no harm in enhancing his reputation against Romania.

The 24-year-old is a highly-rated goalkeeper that enjoyed a strong first year at Stamford Bridge last season and became the Chelsea number one.

He’s got great technique to play out from the back with great composure like many modern goalkeepers, something he does both on the international and domestic stage.

Kepa hasn’t enjoyed the best of starts to the new campaign with Chelsea, conceding 11 goals in five games across all competitions so far.

But he’s definitely not received much support from the Blues backline and Frank Lampard’s side should be much stronger when Antonio Rudiger returns from his injury.

Kepa is developing into an elite goalkeeper with the Blues and the youngster still has plenty of time to keep improving.

Here are some Chelsea fans discussing Kepa’s international efforts:
