Olivier Giroud continued his tremendous success in the Europa League on Thursday night in the 4-3 win over Slavia Prague – and some of the Chelsea fans on Twitter hailed him for his performance.

The Blues beat the Czech Republic outfit at Stamford Bridge in the second leg of a quarter-final, which means they set up a semi-final with Eintracht Frankfurt after winning 5-3 on aggregate.

Giroud weighed in with an easy finish inside the penalty area after being assisted by teammate Pedro and he’s been on fire in the Europa League.

The Frenchman now has 10 goals in 11 appearances this season in the competition and is the tournament’s top scorer.

But he’s continued to struggle for starts in the Premier League and even recently admitted his frustration.

Giroud explained he’s “not happy” as the second choice striker and said he’ll need a more important role next season (official website).

The 32-year-old added that he’s had offers elsewhere, but his focus remains on the Blues for the rest of the season.

Chelsea have the option to extend Giroud’s current deal by a further 12 months in the summer, as his current contract is due to expire in the summer.

Some fans on social media have urged the club to sort out the centre-forward’s future following his impact in the Europa League against Slavia Prague.

He is the perfect link up in attack that is so often missing and is yet to let Sarri down when given the chance.
