Ross Barkley helped inspire England to a 5-1 win away to Montenegro on Monday night – and many Chelsea fans were thrilled by his performance on the international stage.
The Blues midfielder put in a man of the match display in a qualifying match for the European Championships in 2020.
He scored two goals both inside the penalty area to highlight his threat going forward and also provided a stunning assist with his free-kick.
Barkley’s certainly picked up some momentum over the international break with his impressive performances for England and will now hope to take that into his club form.
The playmaker has managed five goals and five assists so far this season for Chelsea, but there is a feeling he could be doing more.
Barkley needs to try cement his spot in the starting XI on a weekly basis under Maurizio Sarri and there are some favourable fixtures coming up against Cardiff City and Brighton where he should be looking to be a goal threat.
The 25-year-old has shown in patches his qualities at Stamford Bridge, but his England displays shows he’s got more to give.
