Alvaro Morata inspired Spain to a 2-0 victory away to Malta on Tuesday night – and many Chelsea fans reacted to the performance of their loanee on Twitter.

The centre-forward left Stamford Bridge in January for a 18-month loan deal at Atletico Madrid, where he’s scored three times in eights games so far.

He opened the scoring for Spain with a left-footed finish from a tight angle that ended up going underneath the goalkeeper.

The 26-year-old then added a second with a powerful header, something that has become a trademark in his game.

Morata scored 24 goals in 72 games for Chelsea before his loan exit and it never really clicked for him in West London.

The striker is certainly a major threat in the air and has a decent record for the Spanish national team, but doesn’t quite have the pace or mobility to be a real force in the Premier League.

Many Blues fans believe that he’s now beginning to rediscover his best form after his two-goal heroics on international duty and feel they never saw that player in the flesh at Stamford Bridge.

Morata’s immediate future appears to be with Atletico, while in the the meantime Chelsea have their own problems in attack.
