Chelsea are reportedly interest in Lille attacker Nicolas Pepe – and some of the club’s supporters on Twitter believe he would be an excellent fit at Stamford Bridge.
According to the Mirror, the Blues could turn their attention to Ligue 1 club Lille if they do lose talisman Eden Hazard, who the club are resigned to losing in the summer when he enters the final year of his contract.
It is understood that Pepe wants to leave his current club in the summer, but he is valued at £70million following his impressive form this season.
Chelsea are currently fighting against a two-window transfer ban imposed on them and the report details the 23-year-old has been lined up in case their appeal is successful.
Pepe has been in dazzling form this campaign for Lille, who currently sit second in the French top flight behind Paris Saint-Germain.
The left-winger has made 35 appearances across all competitions this season, scoring a remarkable 20 goals and supplying 14 assists in return.
He is a wide man that has tremendous speed and can dribble at pace too, while he’s a decent finisher on his left foot too.
Pepe takes penalties for his Lille team too, but it’s going to be an almost impossible task to replace Hazard if he does end up leaving.
A selection of Chelsea fans are positive about being linked with the Lille winger, with one even suggesting he can be similar to ex-Blues player Arjen Robben.
Here are some Chelsea fans discussing the Pepe speculation:
Absolutely worth it!

Definitely worth it. World class decision-making and movement. A left footed right winger, something we have needed since Robben and is a goalscorer, something we also lack. Only 23 years old too u know…

Good choice. Hopefully the transfer ban will be lifted. And at least sign Pepe and Jovic please.

Worth the money, Chelsea should get him if they can

Should Hazard leave and the transfer ban pushed back, Nicolas Pépé should be our main priority. I would hate to see him leave to another team god forbid another Premier League one. Nicolas Pepe, CHO, Pulisic, and Willian next season would be able to rotate well. #CFC
