Chelsea loan star Jay Dasilva shines on international duty

Chelsea defender Jay Dasilva is one of the most highly-rated talents out on loan from Stamford Bridge this season and he may have given fans a glimpse into the future.

The left-back started both games for England’s Under-21s side, as they secured a 2-1 win over Italy and a 5-1 victory against Denmark on Tuesday night.

He has become an important member of Aidy Boothroyd’s young lions and appears to have all the traits to become a senior international further down the line.

Dasilva is on a season-long loan this campaign in the Championship with Bristol City and has managed to force his way into the starting XI in the last month.

He is a full-back with electric pace and can provide a great cross into the box, which was proven when he assisted a Dominic Solanke England goal against Italy last week.

Chelsea supporters are keen for their loan stars to become future first teamers and the English flyer may be one of those with a genuine chance.

Maurizio Sarri’s side currently has Marcos Alonso as the first-choice left-back, while Emerson Palmieri provides the understudy.

Dasilva’s development this season will be an interesting one to monitor, as he looks comfortable playing alongside mainly Premier League players with England and could have a big future in the top flight.

Dom is a Chelsea supporter who has worked in online publishing for more than six years. Graduated from Staffordshire University in 2016, he now writes exclusively for The Chelsea Chronicle covering news, analysis and match coverage. He enjoys the dream position of writing about his boyhood club, which seems to be involved in more drama every single day than an episode of The Bill. Aside from his love for Chelsea, he supports and follows the England cricket team. He also fancies himself as the Sunday League version of Michael Essien.
