Chelsea have arguably their biggest game of the season so far to contend with on Tuesday night, as they host French outfit Lille in the Champions League group stages.

The Blues have been preparing for the final match of their group and still have work to do in order to qualify.

Frank Lampard’s team know they will reach the knockout rounds of the Champions League with a victory, while a draw would be enough if Ajax beat Valencia in the other match.

Chelsea need to take care of their own future and secure a win at Stamford Bridge over Lille, who have already finished bottom of the group after a disappointing campaign.

Unfortunately the West London club go into the game on the back of some difficult results lately, with just one win in their last five matches across all competitions.

Lampard needs to make sure his team selection spot on for the European decider and surely midfielder Jorginho has to be reinstated to the starting XI.

The 27-year-old has been dropped to the bench for the last two consecutive matches, which may have been the right decision considering he had started to look a little tired and make some uncharacteristic mistakes.

But he’s the backbone of the team and a real presence in the centre of the park, which is why he was missed in particular in the weekend’s defat to Everton.

The Italian general has to be pulling the strings in the midfield against Lille and he’s the type of experienced calming head that can get the team get through a potentially stressful night if things don’t go to plan early on.

Jorginho should be sat in front of the defence anchoring teammates Mateo Kovacic and N’Golo Kante, who should be allowed a little bit more freedom to roam forward.

The central midfielder is one of the individuals that can help the younger players cope in the pivotal Champions League game and it would be a shock to see him omitted for a third game in succession by Lampard.
