Chelsea fans are patiently waiting to hear the outcome of the club’s appeal against a two-window transfer ban and their summer hangs in the balance because of it.
But there is still a huge amount to look forward to in the 2019/20 season, perhaps most importantly the return of Champions League football.
A possibility for the Blues is that they have to make do with what they have at Stamford Bridge, but that could be a blessing in disguise and there is an attacking combination that should be tested at some stage next year.
Fingers crossed Eden Hazard stays beyond the summer, while senior players Pedro, Willian and Olivier Giroud are likely to be needed over the course of the season.
But there is also some real exciting young talent at Maurizio Sarri’s disposal and that should be unearthed next season.
Chelsea could have quite a formidable front three if they line-up with Callum Hudson-Odoi and Christian Pulisic on the flanks, with Tammy Abraham through the middle.
Hudson-Odoi, 18, has a colossal future ahead of him and has to be back in first-team contention when he returns from his long-term injury next season.
Meanwhile, Pulisic will officially arrive this summer following his switch from Borussia Dortmund in January and is one to watch.
The 20-year-old winger is quick, skilful, and has shown during his time in Germany a serious goal threat.
Abraham is currently on loan with Aston Villa in the Championship and scored 26 goals in all competitions on the road to the Championship play-off final.
The 21-year-old deserves a shot in the Chelsea first team next year and is an all-action striker with strength and pace.
Chelsea have a youthful trio they could look to use next year and it would be a delight if they are all fielded together at some stage in the next season.
