Chelsea reportedly have an interest in Lazio centre-forward Ciro Immobile.
According to Il Messaggero, the Blues and Liverpool are both keen on the 28-year-old from Serie A.
Chelsea are closing in on a loan deal for striker Gonzalo Higuain (Express), but Immobile would be a lethal alternative at Stamford Bridge.
Immobile is a goal machine that has struck 80 times in just 112 appearances for his current club Lazio.
The Italy international already has 13 goals and seven assists this season in 24 games, which is why he’s got a brilliant reputation around Europe.
He’s a pacy attacker that can play on the shoulder of a defender and he’s proven that he can score an array of different goals with both feet.
Chelsea’s obvious weakness this season under Maurizio Sarri has been in the final third of the pitch without a trusted striker, but target Immobile specialises in end product.
The Blues desperately need a natural goalscorer through the door if they are to compete for serial trophies and the Lazio man would be a delight, but Higuain appears to be the man in the driving seat.
Chelsea fans should at least pray that Premier League leaders Liverpool don’t land Immobile to make them even stronger, as they have a scintillating attack at their disposal as it is.
