Chelsea are reportedly interested in a move for Barcelona midfielder Denis Suarez in January.
According to the Express, the Blues are prepared to battle AC Milan for the £45million-rated dazzler and they may even have the upper hand in the race.
The report details that Italian outfit Milan would prefer to take the 24-year-old on loan initially, but Barcelona would prefer a permanent cash deal and that could favour the Premier League side.
Suarez is keen to complete a move away from Spanish giants Barcelona after falling down the pecking order at the Camp Nou and is in need of regular senior action.
The Spanish midfielder has scored two goals in his three first-team appearances this campaign, while he has shown in the past he can play an important role as a creative force.
But Chelsea should consider a £45million fee a colossal risk and perhaps not one that manager Maurizio Sarri needs to make.
Suarez is a dazzling ace with quick feet and an eye for goal, but there is no guarantee he could cut the grade in the Premier League and was previously on the books at Manchester City.
Meanwhile, Chelsea already have an array of quality attacking midfielders at Stamford Bridge and that’s also without loanee Mason Mount in contention.
The Blues fans are keen to see the likes of Ruben Loftus-Cheek, Ross Barkley and Mount all develop as English creative playmakers in the years to come.
Suarez is a versatile ace that can play in the centre or in wide areas, but he’s been frozen out at Barcelona and £45million would be much better used pumped into a new centre-forward.
