It is some season Conor Gallagher is having at Chelsea right now.

Conor Gallagher could have been sold during the summer but remained at Stamford Bridge and is now thriving.

The midfielder put in another good performance against Tottenham Hotspur last night and set a new record for himself in the process, according to Squawka.

In Chelsea’s 4-1 win against their bitter rivals, Gallagher created five chances, the most he has recorded in a single Premier League game.

He was helped by Tottenham getting two red cards and playing possibly the highest defensive line football has ever seen. But it is still a good stat, nonetheless.

Can Conor Gallagher become an all-round midfielder?

Under a coach like Mauricio Pochettino and given his age, it may not be impossible. Gallagher has a lot of attributes.

At Crystal Palace, he showed that he can score goals from midfield, netting eight times in 34 Premier League appearances during his time at Selhurst Park.

This season, it has been more about doing the dirty work. As per WhoScored, the 23-year-old is making 2.8 tackles per game, the second-highest average in Chelsea’s squad.

However, Gallagher now has the most Premier League assists at the Blues and showed yesterday that he can execute the right pass.

If he can combine all of the above together, then the Blues could end up having quite a complete midfielder who they were once willing to sell. But it will obviously not be an easy thing for the England international to do.

What this season and recent campaigns have shown, though, is that Gallagher usually does bring something to the table, even if it is not always the same thing.

His contract expires in 2025, but with more performances like the one against Tottenham, you would expect him to be handed a new one.
