Handing Loftus-Cheek a Chelsea chance is a must for new boss Sarri
Chelsea supporters finally know that Italian Maurizio Sarri will be the club’s manager going into next season and his attacking philosophy is likely to bring a change in style at Stamford Bridge.
The ex-Napoli boss is surely going to be keen to get fans on side early into his tenure and one key midfielder decision could go a long way to doing that.
Sarri could become a popular figure if he opts to give some of the Blues’ younger players a first-team opportunity and top of that list has to be Ruben Loftus-Cheek.
The 22-year-old impressed out on loan last season with Crystal Palace in the Premier League and was a part of England’s World Cup squad this summer that finished the tournament in fourth.
Chelsea destroyer N’Golo Kante looks likely to be an automatic starter in Sarri’s starting XI, while new signing Jorginho is a pass master that many feel will be pivotal to a new-look side.
That could leave just one gap in a three-man midfield and Sarri could do a lot worse than allowing academy graduate Loftus-Cheek to compete for that starting spot alongside the likes of Ross Barkley and Cesc Fabregas next season.
Loftus-Cheek appears to have come of age in the past 12 months and is a powerful central midfielder that Chelsea fans are begging to see given a full senior opportunity.
The London club can’t let another talented youngster slip through their fingertips and fans shouldn’t have long to wait to see what Sarri’s plans are for him.
