Victor Moses has delivered some rather encouraging words on Ross Barkley.

According to the Nigerian, the former Everton man has been the most impressive in Chelsea training so far this season.

It comes after fans have watched him make an impressive return to the first team this term.

In 2017/18, Barkley endured a torrid start to his Blues career.

Following his £15 million January switch from Goodison Park, he made just four appearances under Antonio Conte as injury problems wrecked his season.

It looks as though Barkley has been playing with a point to prove so far in 2018/19 though.

Many anticipated he would be back amongst the substitutes but clearly he has impressed Maurizio Sarri.

‘Working his socks off’

Having missed so much football, it would appear Barkley has been making up for lost time.

And he has certainly impressed teammate Moses, who said as quoted by the Daily Mail: “Everyone has been good, everyone is working hard but I’d say Ross Barkley [has been the best].

“He had a big injury but he’s started the season really well and he’s working his socks off.”

Barkley’s season?

Moses’ words are definitely encouraging.

With the summer addition of Mateo Kovacic, and the fresh hype around Ruben Loftus-Cheek, most fans are (pleasantly) surprised to see Barkley getting game time.

N’Golo Kante and Jorginho are going to play every game, meaning there’s potentially only one place to compete for.

If the midfielder can continue to work hard, there’s no reason why he can’t excel this season.

He clearly has Sarri’s trust at the moment, and everybody knows the player’s quality.

Having missed out on the World Cup, surely he’ll want to show everybody what might have been in Russia…
