No matter which direction Kai Havertz’s career takes from here on out, his goals for Chelsea will stand the test of time.
The 22-year-old has arguably provided the two most important moments in the club’s modern history.
Last May, he rounded Manchester City’s Ederson and converted into an open net to hand the Blues their second Champions League title.

This ended Thomas Tuchel’s debut term on the highest of highs and ultimately earned the manager an extended stay at Stamford Bridge.
The German connection
Tuchel has since overseen the UEFA Super Cup triumph and Saturday’s Club World Cup victory.
Again, the latter of which achieved thanks to the left boot of his fellow countryman.
With 117th minutes on the clock and the scores level at 1-1, Havertz confidently stepped up and dispatched his penalty past the Palmeiras goalkeeper.
Finally, Chelsea managed to fill the hole in their cabinet that had been previously been collecting dust.
Of course, the Blues might have beaten Palmeiras on penalties and claimed the global honour anyway.
But the events panned out as they did, meaning the young attacker received all the rewards of the evening.

Kai needs to kick on
Aside from winning the trophy itself, arguably the biggest prize for Havertz that night was being handed the spot-kick responsibilities in the first place.
After all, he had only scored twice more for Tuchel’s team since the start of November.
However, with Romelu Lukaku and Jorginho off the pitch, the obligation moved on to their junior colleague.
Hopefully now the former Bundesliga gem can also take accountability for his relatively poor form in front of goal.
Remarkably, in 73 appearances for the European and world champions, Havertz has never scored in consecutive games.
Those 15 strikes for Chelsea have all been separated usually by a long stretch of games.

He could finally end this unwanted statistic on the weekend when the Blues make the short trip across the capital to face Crystal Palace.
Last season at Selhurst Park, Havertz scored and assisted, so Patrick Vieira’s side should be the ideal opponent to end such a streak.
