Player Grades from Chelsea 3-1 Bate Borisov

Chelsea strolled to a 3-1 victory over Bate Borisov in the Europa League. Here are our individual grades for each player.

Kepa: 6 –

Barely had a touch of the ball though he made one sharp save from an offside player.

Davide Zappacosta: 7 –

All be it against poor opposition, he contributed more in an attacking sense than Azpilicueta has in the last five matches.

Gary Cahill: 6 –

Hardly tested but he did not put a foot wrong.

Andreas Christensen: 6 –

Like Cahill, he was solid if unspectacular.

Emerson: 7 –

Whenever he has played this season he has been impressive. He has pace on the overlap, decent delivery and the speed to get back and defend when the opposition counters.

Cesc Fabregas: 5 –

Almost comically slow these days. Europa League opposition are not exposing this. The only way he will impact the first team is from the bench or against the weaker sides.

Ruben Loftus-Cheek: 8 –

Top of the grades. Even though he scored a hat trick, he still has more to give. That is how talented he is. There were times when he was wasteful or he failed to spot available space that he could move into. He needs to play in the Premier League now.Physically, he is a special player.

Mateo Kovacic: 7 –

Neat and tidy in possession and a terrier winning the ball back. He simply must chip in with goals to take that step up.

Pedro: 6 –

He was quiet in an attacking sense. Eden Hazard’s presence seems to bring the best out of him.

Willian: 7 –

I am normally quite critical of Willian but he played well tonight. He gave the ball away less than usual and he released the ball more quickly.

Olivier Giroud: 5 –

He still has not scored which is a real concern. As good as he is at bringing others into play, he lacks the speed to get into goal scoring positions.
