Ross Barkley completed 90 minutes in the 2-2 draw MOL Vidi on Thursday evening – and some of the Chelsea fans on Twitter hammered him for the quality of his performance.
The Blues had already booked their spot in the Europa League knockouts rounds with five wins from five ahead of their final group match in Budapest.
Maurizio Sarri decided to rest a number of several stars for the fairly meaningless tie, with that decision opening the door for some fringe players.
Willian’s superb free-kick had put the visitors in front after half an hour, but youngster Ethan Ampadu was unfortunate to head in an own goal shortly after to level the match up.
Ex-Charlton ace Loic Nego then scored a stunning volley in the second-half, before substitute Olivier Giroud curled in his own free-kick.
A selection of Chelsea fans on social media were fuming with Barkley after he got his chance to impress in the starting XI.
The 25-year-old has had a mixed season so far at Stamford Bridge that has seen him dip in and out of the team, but right now he is on the decline and struggling to make a serious impact.
He struggled in the central midfield role to influence the game with some safe passing and also lost possession in the build up to Vidi’s second goal.
