Chelsea youngster Faustino Anjorin is reportedly in line for a new contract at Stamford Bridge.
Goal reports that the 17-year-old is set to be one of several academy players to renew their deals with the Blues.
It is understood that his current deal expires in 2021 after penning a contract last year, but senior boss Frank Lampard has shown there is a genuine path into the first-team.
The report explains that Anjorin could be rewarded with his senior debut on Wednesday night, as Chelsea face League Two outfit Grimsby Town in the Carabao Cup third round.
Anjorin is on Lampard’s radar and he could be set for a first-team outing in mid-week, which would make him the latest academy star to come through the ranks in recent years.
The attacking midfielder has been on fire at youth level so far this season, scoring five goals and supplying three assists in seven games across all competitions.
He’s someone that has drawn comparisons to Ruben Loftus-Cheek and has a physical frame that should cope with senior football.
Tammy Abraham, Mason Mount and Fikayo Tomori have been flying the flag for ex-academy players performing in the first-team this season.
There is also the likes of Callum Hudson-Odoi, Reece James, Billy Gilmour and Loftus-Cheek that can be thrown into the equation.
Anjorin appears to be the next to have caught Lampard’s eye and it would be colossal if he gets a runout of some sort against Grimsby.
