Chelsea recorded a heroic win on penalties against Tottenham in the Carabao Cup semi-finals in Thursday night, as they overcame a 1-0 deficit from the first leg.

The Blues earned a 2-1 win after 90 minutes against Spurs at Stamford Bridge in the second leg, before four perfect penalties booked a spot in the final against Manchester City.

Maurizio Sarri’s side issued the perfect response from some mixed form lately by blowing Spurs out of the park in the first-half and eventually end up on the winning side.

Sarri will now have a shot at winning his first silverware with the club in the February final and his team showed what is capable when they are on top of their game.

Ross Barkley got the nod in the midfield against Spurs, but he received a wave of criticism on Twitter following his display despite the win.

The 25-year-old was crucial in the build up to Eden Hazard’s goal with an instinctive quick free-kick that eventually led to the Belgian’s strike.

Barkley has been rotated with teammate Mateo Kovacic throughout the season for the central midfield spot and neither of them can seem to cement the position.

The Englishman showed glimpses of his attacking qualities against Spurs, but he still has just three goals to his name all season.
