Chelsea are currently recovering during the international break after a positive start to the season and there is a lot of praise aimed towards the club right now.
Frank Lampard has made quite the impact during his opening months as manager and the introduction of so many academy graduates has been at the heart of the success.
The Blues currently sit third in the Premier League table with 26 points from 12 games and it looks like a top four bid is very realistic.
Meanwhile, they are involved in a fascinating Champions League group that is still in their own hands with two games remaining.
Chelsea have an intriguing run of games ahead when they return to action and there positive start to the season will be crushed if they fall short in upcoming matches.
Here is the prediction for the next six games:
Manchester City Away (Premier League)
Chelsea start this game remarkably ahead of reigning champions City in the table by a single point and there is nothing to fear at the Etihad Stadium.
Pep Guardiola’s team are so vulnerable defensively right now and have lost three league games already this season, compared to four during the entirety of last year.
The likes of Christian Pulisic and Tammy Abraham should run riot with the space City allow at the back, but you can’t ignore their attacking quality too with stars such as Kevin De Bruyne and Sergio Aguero.
Chelsea will come away from the Etihad with a valuable point if they play at their best and the optimistic prediction comes from how free-scoring the Blues are under Lampard.
Valencia Away (Champions League)
Chelsea know that a victory out in Spain against Valencia will secure them a spot in the knockout rounds of the Champions League, but on the flip side the opposition are right in the frame to qualify too.
Lampard’s team lost 1-0 at Stamford Bridge against Valencia and it was arguably the poorest display of the season so far, where the team were completely lacklustre and ran out of attacking ideas.
But they have improved massively since and showed by beating Ajax away they are capable of rising to the big occasions.
It’s going to be a nervous encounter against a decent Valencia side, but on paper the Blues should edge them out.
West Ham Home (Premier League)
Chelsea should definitely be marking down the West Ham clash as one to pick up three points in, as their London neighbours are in shocking form and struggling in the bottom half of the table.
There should be nothing to fear for the Blues in this clash, although the home form does need to start matching the impressive away one.
It’s likely that rotation will need to be made during a busy fixture list and it would be no surprise to see someone like Callum Hudson-Odoi come back into the fore.
Aston Villa Home (Premier League)
Villa are a stubborn opposition that have coped well on their return to the top-flight and can be difficult to breakdown.
But these are the types of games Chelsea need to clinch three points to keep up a top four chase and even keep their name around the title talk for as long as possible.
Abraham fired Villa to promotion on loan with them last season and it will be a special individual fixture for the striker.
Everton Away (Premier League)
Everton have been nowhere near their dazzling best this season and are underperforming, but are a real danger to any team at Goodison Park and Chelsea have found it difficult in the past against them.
They lost on Merseyside to the Toffees 2-0 back in March, as well as being hold to a goalless draw at home to them last season.
Chelsea have been impressive away from home this season, but they will do well to come away from Everton with a point.
Lille Home (Champions League)
Chelsea will hopefully already be in the knockout rounds of Europe’s elite club competition at this stage and will be going for top spot.
Lille are the weakest team in the group right now and the Blues managed a 2-1 away win out in France against them in their earlier meeting.
There is a real fearlessness that Lampard’s side appear to have when it comes to the European competition this campaign and that makes them extremely dangerous for anyone.
