Tottenham have reportedly agreed a deal to sign Brighton midfielder Yves Bissouma, something which feels like a major missed opportunity for Chelsea.
According to The Telegraph, Premier League and London rivals Spurs have agreed a £25million transfer to sign Bissouma.
It is understood the 25-year-old will have a medical with Tottenham this week, plus personal terms are not expected to be an issue.
The report explains he’s now expected to become the third signing of the window for Antonio Conte’s side after Ivan Perisic and Fraser Forster.

Tottenham agreed deal to sign Bissouma
It’s Spurs that look like they’re landing an absolute bargain deal this summer.
Bissouma is a midfield powerhouse that has been extremely impressive in recent times in the Brighton XI, so a £25million transfer looks a snip. Admittedly, he is entering the final year of his contract at the Amex Stadium.
Described as an “exceptional footballer” by Gary Lineker in 2021, a move to a Premier League top-six club has felt inevitable for a while now.
He’s a defensive midfielder that is so effective out of possession breaking up play and showing real athleticism. In addition, he’s a ball player that suits a Brighton side that like possession.

Chelsea miss a serious trick
Bissouma is a player that Chelsea should’ve thrown their name into the hat for, especially at a minimal £25million price tag.
His performances in England’s top flight prove what a major talent he is, so it’s a concern that he will immediately improve rivals Spurs next season.
With Jorginho and N’Golo Kante 30-plus, it would be great to see potential new recruits in the centre of the park this summer at Stamford Bridge.
Conor Gallagher, labelled as “fantastic” by Patrick Vieira, is returning to Chelsea from his impressive loan at Crystal Palace. The 22-year-old’s going to bring a new dynamic as a box-to-box central midfielder, but Thomas Tuchel’s Chelsea could do with an out-and-out defensive midfielder.
It feels like Bissouma is someone that is ready to establish himself as one of the top CDMs in the Premier League division.
Let’s hope Chelsea don’t look back at this summer’s window with regret over not entering the transfer race for the Brighton star.
